Camels As Mobile Libraries

Hey guys and girls. What do you like to do for fun? Watch television? Play
video games? Play sports? Read books?

If you like to read books, then you're like me. I really like to read books.
我很喜歡讀書。

Where do you get your books? Do buy books to read? Or do you like to read on
your tablet or phone? 你會買書還是看電子書？I like to borrow books from the
local library! 我喜歡去圖書館借書！

I think I'm very lucky to be able to do that. Borrowing books from the
library is so convenient. 真的很方便.

But not everyone is as lucky as me.

For example, kids in Kenya can't easily borrow books like I can. Have you
heard of the country Kenya?

It is in Africa. 肯亞是在非洲. There are many poor people in Kenya. Life can
be hard for people in that country.

Some people in Kenya live far away from big
cities.有些肯亞人住的地方離大都市很遠 It is difficult for them to travel, so
it is hard for children to go to school and read books. And they don't have
libraries near their homes. 有的小孩子沒去上學，沒有書讀，附近也沒有圖書館

But there is one very different kind of library that they can use.

It is a camel library. 但是，他們有駱駝圖書館! This is when camels bring
books to poor children in Kenya.

People put books in boxes and then put the boxes on the camels' backs. Then,
these camels take books to children in different places!
這些駱駝帶著書去給孩子們。

Camels are slow. But they are better than cars in the countryside in Kenya.

This is because camels can go to many places that cars cannot go. Cars need
roads. Camels don't.

The books are important for the children. They help them learn and understand
things.

I'm glad that they have these camels to bring them books.
